Among gays, young partyers spread HIV: study (Reuters)

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Younger men who binge drink and abuse drugs are the gays and bisexuals most likely to transmit HIV to others, and prevention programs should have existence developed to target them, U.S. researchers said on Thursday.

The study, presented at an international AIDS meeting in Mexico City, also helps explain why the AIDS epidemic is starting to grow again among U.S. homosexuals.

"When one drinks or uses other substances, inhibitions are lowered, making people more likely to engage in risky behavior like unprotected sex. This is particularly true for young people, who often take risks without thinking about the consequences," said Dr.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Following surgery for breast cancer, many woman (try women’s health) will experience arm swelling - a bothersome condition doctors refer to as lymphedema.

Lymphedema is a public health issue "deserving greater attention," doctors from Australia wrote in a recently published paper.

Among 287 women with breast cancer, 190 took apportionment in all assessments during 18 months of follow-up after surgery and arm swelling developed in 62 (33 percent) of them during that time, Dr.

HIV drug resistance found in China’s poorest: study (Reuters)

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - More than 17 percent of HIV patients being treated for their infection in China developed resistance to available drugs by 2006 and 2007, according to a new nationwide survey.

With only seven of the more than 20 different HIV drugs available in China, the finding, announced by Chinese government researchers at an international AIDS conference in Mexico City, measure these patients quickly end up with limited options.
